High North Ptarmigan Hunt

High North Ptarmigan Hunt Upland game hunting in northern Quebec is one of the most unique bird hunting opportunities available to shotgun hunters today. We are offering Ptarmigan hunts over your dog during late September and early October. This is when the birds are starting to form fairly large covies. You will be out, two hunters per guide and one dog per two hunters will be included in the cost of the hunt. Additional dogs can be brought for the minimal charge of the air from Montreal to Kuujjuaq and return. The birds will be almost pure white at this time of year and offer excellent sport as well great fare for the table. You can take 15 birds each per day and have 30 in possession with a valid game permit. We can also offer this same package during March from the village of Kuujjuaq instead of from our base camp on Lake Dufreboy. This would be done by using snowmobiles. Ptarmigan Camp The camp is located in the area known as the Ungava Bay Region of northern Quebec's Eastern Arctic. It is in Inuit controlled lands, governed under the James Bay Agreement. The area consists of 300,000 square miles of the most pristine landscapes, dotted with as many lakes as land. It is above the tree line, which offers clear and open shooting. The camp itself is very comfortable and consists of two individual wooden cabins set up to accommodate 4 hunters in each and two cabins for the guides and kitchen staff. The kitchen and dining area is extremely well equipped and is separate from the sleep cabins. The camp has hot & cold running water, generator and oil heat. Meals are "camp" style. They are healthy and nourishing with no shortage of supplies to contend with. We have a full time cook as well a camp caretaker who makes sure everything is in order when you arrive back to camp after a days hunt. We can assure to you that it is clean, comfortable and well maintained. Please note that special arrangements can be made to accommodate couples.
